What is the Buddy System?

Every semester ESN Bern offers exchange and local students to get in contact with each other through the Buddy System. This project aims to connect people from all over the world. For exchange students it is a nice way to get introduced into their new home for the next months and to experience Swiss culture by a local student. Furthermore, they are getting supported in case any questions or challenges come up during their stay.

As local student you support the exchange students during their stay or do some activities together. Doing so, you will learn a lot about different countries, cultures and might even find a new friend. Being a Buddy is an easy and wonderful way to experience intercultural and international exchange.

Interested?

Sign up for Spring Semester 2024! You will be matched around mid-January/Februrary - feel free to register already. Deadline for registering is 31st March 2024. 

How to become a Buddy?

The be part of the Buddy Project register on the Papaya (ESN) platform: https://papaya.iter-idea.com/#section#ESN-Bern. You can do it via the webpage or by downloading the App (Google Play Store, Apple App Store).

You can sign up via your Facebook, Google or Apple account with directly leads to adjusting your profile. You can also sign up via Mail. Here, you have to wait until we will accept your registration request. If everything is okay, you will get an email with a password, which you use to sign up and to create your profile.

Afterwards you need to subscribe up to the project “Buddy System” (you find it on your start page).

Once you are done, it is up to us to find you a match. Please understand if it takes a few days.

As soon as you are matched you get an Email. Please check your mail regularly to not miss the mail!
